Bio: I yam what I yam, and that's all that I yam. (With apologies to both Popeye and one of my favorite root vegetables...)

I'm not an accountant any more--at least, Corporate America no longer sings its siren song of stable income flows in exchange for my soul. The universe is a big, wide, weird and wonderful place...I'm taking some time to see where else I fit.

And I'm still training in bodywork. (That's what a lot of us call massage therapy when we want to avoid the eyerolling nudge-nudge-wink-wink attitude that the word "massage" seems to inspire in some people.) Don't know if I'll ever make a career of it, but I enjoy it a lot.

When I settle on new career, I'll update this...
Favorites: Favorites? Gee, that's a tough one...

Musicians? Joel Ackerson, of course. Jud Duncan, Seth Horan, Larry Marciano and David Peters (in alphabetical order because they're all my favorites!). Have to add in Timothy Daniel and Amber Rubarth and Michael Shelton and Ryan Fitzsimmons, too. A group called Portable, whose lead singer/songwriter Chance is a friend of a friend... how I ended up knowing so many people in the music biz is a wonderful mystery...

On the non-indie front, I'm an eclectic child of my times--and having been raised by a woman who thought they mostly stopped writing good music in about 1962, a child of a few other times, too: The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Eagles (individually as well as collectively), Heart, Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson (before he got so odd...), The Mamas and the Papas, The Supremes, The Police, Genesis, Sting, Peter Gabriel, Pat Benetar, Gloria Estefan (with and without the Miami Sound Machine), Garth Brooks, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Chris Ledoux, No Doubt, Evanescence, Chicago, Robert Palmer, Frank Sinatra (before he retired the first time), Rosemary Clooney, Tony Bennett, Miles Davis, Lionel Hampton, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Glenn Miller, Santana, Juan Carlos Quintero, The Gipsy Kings, Billy Joel, Huey Lewis & the News (don't laugh), Govinda, and that doesn't include my newfound appreciation for Indian and Middle Eastern music...not an exhaustive list but it'll do for a start.

Hobbies? I read. I read A LOT. And my taste in literature is just as eclectic as my taste in music, from Jane Austen and Charles Dickens and Edgar Allen Poe to Dan Brown and J.K. Rowling and Ray Bradbury and Robert Heinlein and the first 6 "bodice-rippers" by Kathleen Woodiwiss (after that they seemed to be repeating themselves).

And I cook. Among other things, a killer Lindy's-style cheesecake...

Movies? Oh, boy...classic Hollywood musicals, film noir, Star Trek, quirky imports like "Amelie"...if it has a good story, it gets my vote, even if it's in a genre I normally wouldn't seek out. As an example, "The Godfather" and "The Godfather Part II" are marvelous films, but as a rule, blood-&-guts/gangster flicks aren't my bag.

My favorite blog...okay, the only blog I read with any regularity...is Wil Wheaton's at wilwheaton.net. The man is good; check out "Dancing Barefoot," his collection of five short stories.

Oh. And I really like to write. Could you tell? ;-D
